Stereotyping...we're all guilty as charged!

Since moving to a new community, I've been confronted by stereotyping head on. By stereotyping I mean, looking at just the outside of a person and assuming because of their skin color, age, physical appearance (clothes, etc.), you will have nothing in common with them. Such a big bag of &***((.

I've been confronted most recently with ageism. Yes, ageism. It seems since I've had my children later in life that I don't belong with those moms in their late 20s or early 30s. I can outrun them, and probably have more energy than them, but sure enough it does occur.

So please, smile to the stranger next to you, open your minds to what you can learn from them and how wonderfully different we all are--and how similar we are despite our differences. We all want friendship, love, to create, and be acknowledged.

As a stay-at-home mom, I realize how marginalized we can all be in our little homes if we don't connect to others. Unfortunately, all too often, we segregate ourselves by dismissing potential friendships on the basis of how a person looks. So dumb! I've probably been guilty of this myself--to a lesser extent. I've always prided myself in seeking out people outside of the cool crowd (probably because I am very different and quirky myself).

So, I'm keeping my head up and my mind open to new and exciting conversations.

Hello...Again!

It's been quite a while since I last wrote, so: Hello! I'm sitting here with a cup of tea (much like Adele in her video). Since my last post, we've moved half way across the world, to Europe. We're still getting acclimated to life here, but there are many perks (or so I've been told).

For one, I'm very excited to try to shop mostly on the local economy for fruits and veggies that are fresher and hopefully with less pesticides. I plan on doing an investigation on this and posting it on the blog after the holidays. I'm also starting to work out again, this time a stricter plan and also incorporating yoga and yoga poses. I plan on posting the pictures of the yoga poses on the blog as well.

2016 promises to be a year of many milestones for me. So I plan on making it all very grand (in my very modest way).

So, hello, again and I hope you grab a cup of tea, coffee, water, and stay a while.
